NEWS: The regularly scheduled meeting of the Village of Camillus Board of Trustees to be held on Thursday September 8, 2011 has been cancelled and rescheduled for Thursday September 29, 2011 at 7 PM.

The Village of Camillus is located in Central New York, 12 miles west of Syracuse. The Village of Camillus is a great place to live and raise a family, surrounded by rolling hills and rich farmland, with easy access to Rt. 695, close to major shopping, within the highly rated West Genesee School District and centered around Nine Mile Creek – one of Central New York’s finest trout fishing streams.

Community Note

The Town of Camillus Parks and Recreation Department is currently in the process of creating a 5 Year Master Plan. This plan will be used in determining the growth, direction, priorities and agenda for the Department in the near future.

In order for the Master Plan to reflect the sentiment of the community, an online survey has been created that asks residents to provide their opinion in regards to Town of Camillus parks, facilities, programs and potential capital projects. The short survey is available online at the following website link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/camillus-parks-and-rec-survey. The survey will be available online until March 4th. If there are any questions in regards to the survey, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 487-3600.

Once the results of the survey are tabulated, they will be used in conjunction with a needs analysis, a review of demographical data, input from local youth sports organizations, and comparisons to state and national standards in determining goals and objectives for the department. The plan will allow the department to most effectively allocate its resources for the maximum benefit to residents and prove to be a valuable tool in the grant application process.

On February 17th at 7:00 pm at the West Genesee High School Large Group Instruction Room, there will be a public meeting to obtain community input for the "needs analysis" section of the Town of Camillus Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Members of the public are encouraged to attend.

On February 21st at 3:30 pm a meeting will be held at the Camillus Senior Center to provide Senior Citizens the opportunity to provide their input for the “needs analysis” section of the Town of Camillus Parks and Recreation Master Plan.  Seniors will be given an opportunity, aside from the online survey, to offer input directly to the meeting presenters.

 Each of these meetings are being provided to the community in order to provide opportunities for residents of the Town of Camillus to speak of their needs and desires for parks, facilities, programs and potential capital projects. In addition to these meetings, residents are also being provided the opportunity to complete an online survey about the same topics.
